:)I was just perusing some of the websites. I loved the one on "Our Favorite Candy"!!! Remember them all and probably ate everyone of them many times. I just the other day went to a Fair here in Indiana and they had many of the penny candies displayed such as the "button candy" and many of the others that are on the site. However, they are now $.35 a piece. Brought back alot of memories from my childhood. Couldn't wait to get to the candy store on Starling Ave. and Purdy St. named "Jacks" in Parkchester, the Bronx. Had alot of fun going there. I remember the girls would get the red waxed lips and the boys would get the black moustaches. We thought "who we were"!

I remember Parkchester well. I believe there was a drivers license office there around Tremont. Mickey and I often went to Macy's. I always thought Parkchester was high class. I remember there was a movie theater there also. Mickey's Aunt Eileen lived on Virginia Avenue just outside Parkchester. St. Raymonds church was close by on Castle Hill Avenue. We loved going to Parkchester during Christmas. It was always decorated nicely.

Welcome Joan...my parents moved to Purdy St. with my younger sisters right after I got married in 1962. They lived in a private house one house removed from the Convent. The neighborhood was beautiful back then. Both sisters graduated from St Raymonds HS. and were married at St. Ray's.
