:)I hear Helen and Redstang live on Long Island. I did too. Where do each of you girls live? I lived in Suffolk County - Patchogue, NY for over 20 years. Then moved to Farmingville for six years before moving to North Carolina and now to Northwest Indiana. I loved Long Island - especially going out to the Hamptons and Montauk Point.

I had relatives in Wyandanch and Comack. I now have a cousin and his family who lives in Farmingdale on Midland Avenue.

Helen is in Oakdale, near Sayville. Her children all live in the same area. We have lots of family out in Shirley, LI as well. The family in Shirley moved there about 40 years ago before any of it was really developed. Helen has been in Oakdale since 1968 I believe. Back in the 60's I spent lots of weekends at Helen's place. Used to take the LIRR out after work on Friday and then back to the city on Monday morning. It was great because I was right there when her four children were growing up. However, when I left NY for good in 1971 I really lost out on seeing the kids as they got to their teen years and beyond. Only went back when one of them got married and other stuff like that. LI is beautiful and many times when we lived in Virginia, I felt like I was back on LI.

HI... MY NAME IS ISABELLE AND I LIVE ON LONG ISLAND. I LIVED IN THE BRONX UNTIL 1962, MOVED TO QUEENS, THEN TO NASSAU COUNTY AND NOW I AM IN SUFFOLK COUNTYLIVING IN AN APARTMENT IN SOMEONE'S HOME. I WAS BORN IN 1942 IN DR. LEFF'S MATERNITY HOSPITAL.WENT TO TAFT H.S. LONG ISLAND IS BEAUTIFUL AND HAS MANY BEACHES AND PARKS. I AM IN SUFFOLK COUNTY A TOTAL OF 34 YEARS..AND I LOVE IT!

:)Hi Isabelle. First let me welcome you to this site. I am new to "The Bronx Candy Store" also - actually since yesterday.
I see you live on Long Island and love it. So did I. However, here in Northwest Indiana it reminds me alot of Long Island. We have Lake Michigan here, and there are many beaches. There are the Indiana Dunes about 30 minutes from where I live, and it reminds me of Dune Road out at the Hamptons with the beautiful houses overlooking the water. I enjoyed my 25+ years on the Island. Definitely, a great place to live!

Welcome, Isabelle! Where in Suffolk county do you live? Bronxgirl, I was in Patchogue Thursday night , when we had dinner there at our favorite diner, L.I. Grill. We live in Commack in the same house we came to in 1967, 40 years ago.There is only one place I would have rather raised my family in, and that's the Bronx as we knew it in the 40's and 50's. Lenny, where do your Commack relatives live?

Long Island is beautiful and it was a great place to raise my family but now I am retired and Tom is on his 3rd career, NYPD,Bank Investigater, and now school bus driver,the taxes are murder. I'm ready to pack up and move on but Tom doesn't want to leave the kids. I'm tired, I want to be selfish.
