Just want to tell you my husband is a former Marine too. Served in Viet Nam for 1 year. I heard the Villages is a nice place to live. I have in-laws there. Nice pictures.

Would like to tell you a few things about myself. Lived in Parkchester for 36 years. Went to St. Helena's Grammar and High School. Upon graduating, I was fortunate to get a job at 30 Rockefeller Plaza working for Esso (which it was called then). Worked there for 8 years until I had my first born in 1968 and then stayed home. In 1970, I had my second child. Have two girls. We later moved to Long Island in 1979 and I got a job in a school district there and worked there for six years. In June of 1985, I left the school district and worked for the "Village of Patchogue" which is a municipality. Worked in the Mayor's office. I was a stenographer. Met many people there, including the local politicians. Great job! I retired in 2004 and moved to Charlotte, NC. Am now living in Northwest Indiana (Dyer) where my one daughter lives. My husband is originally from Whiting, Indiana so he feels at home - back to his roots. Love it here. It's alot like Long Island. We have Lake Michigan 20 minutes away and the "heart" of Chicago about 30 minutes away. Have the best of two worlds - the country and the city. Being from the city, this is the place to be - can't take the city out of a city girl!!!

Unfortunately, that is NOT me in the golf cart but I can be seen on any given day golf carting down to the pool two blocks from our home. The video hardly gives justice to how beautiful it is here.
Bronxgirl, Joe was in the Maries for almost 7 years and then worked for them for 23 more years for total service of 30 years. I worked for the Marines at Quantico for 28 years so we are both retired civilian employees.
I went to Sacred Heart in Highbridge but I think a few people here at BCS are from St. Helena's.
My sister lives in Oakdale and my aunt, uncle and several cousins live in Shirley, LI. Several nieces and nephews living in Bohemia...Sayville area.
Nice to meet you!!!!!
BTW my husband is naturalized American and was born in Kastl, Germany so he is not a New Yorker.....oh well!!!

Thanks for the site Fran. Never been much of a golfer but maybe I'll start. Only 18 days to my visit to The Villages. See you then

Thanks Fran. You got us thinking a little more seriously about the possibility of retiring in FL. (Of course, that may not be good for your property values...)

Cresthaven! I went there, once, in Oct 1967, for a Sunday afternoon dance! Met my wife, Joan, there. She kept it a secret that she was from Bayridge, in the swamp (spelled B r o o k l y n) until it was too late. That was a heck of a commute from the north BX.... we had to get married... to reduce the drive. Anyway, she turned out OK for a Bayridge gal. She's endured 38 years of wedded bliss, and something like 13 moves (Witness Protection Program), and two sons with BX genes. Now living in Santa Maria, CA. (just kiddin' about the WPP... ).
