Who, if anyone, remembers Dollinger's Toy Store on Tremont Avenue? I was mesmerized by the dolls in there and remember having a really pretty doll with sleeping eyes and platinum hair....it was a nice sized store as I recall.

Yeah, they had beautiful stuff. My mother got me a 'grownup" doll from there....not a Barbie, but one bigger and named her Crystal. I liked the name. She had high heels and a pink evening gown with a shiny bodice. I was so surprised to get her. There wasn't much money for toys or dolls and the doll didn't look cheap, so my mother must have saved to get her for me, God rest her soul.

Looked up Dollingers for the heck of it. I grew up on 178th and Hughes Ave. It was always a treat to go to Dollingers. It was a good size. Bigger than the one on Crotona. The black out in 77 hurt a lot of the businesses. Other stores were popular like Johns Bargain store. Grants was another.
