THREE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FEMALE SINGERS MISS 'SARAH VAUGHN', I COULD LISTEN TO HER ALL DAY. AND THE WONDERFUL 'ELLA' FITZGERALD, AND 'LADY DAY' BILLIE HOLIDAY.
I SAW THE FIRST TWO A NUMBER OF TIMES WHEN I WAS PLAYNG HOOKEY FROM JHS 118 IN THE BRONX, AT THE PARAMOUNT THEATER IN NEW YORK CITY. ELLA WAS ON THE SAME BILL AS MY FAVORITE DRUMMER GENE KRUPA'S BAND.
I SAW SARAH VAUGHN WITH ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITES BUDDY RICH'S BAND TWO OF THE GREATEST DRUMMERS EVER. BUDDY RICH WAS A ORIGINALLY A CHILD PRODIGY AND HE WAS BILLED AS 'TRAPS' THE BOY WONDER.
WHERE ELSE CAN YOU LEARN THIS STUFF. ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITES I WOULD ZOOM DOWN TO SEE WAS 'THE FOUR ACES'. FANTASTIC SINGING GROUP WITH A NUMBER OF HIT RECORDINGS..
I HEARD THEM WAY BACK IN 1950 AND THEY WOULD ALWAYS SING DOO WAH, DOOWAH, DOOWAH. AS AL ALBERTS THE GREAT LEAD SINGER WAS BELTING OUT THOSE WONDERFUL SONGS.
I DONT KNOW HOW I GRADUATED, I SPENT SO MUCH TIME IN THE PARAMOUNT. IT WAS LIKE MAGIC AS THE LIGHTS WENT DOWN AND THE BAND STARTED PLAYING AND THE SPOTLIGHT WENT ON THE BAND WHICH WAS RISING,(THE STAGE CAME UP FROM BELOW). BOY I FEEL REAL GOOD REMEMBERING ALL THE TALENTED SINGERS AND MUSICIANS AND ALL THOSE WONDERFUL COMICS THAT EACH SHOW HAD.
SORRY, FOR GOING ON LIKE THIS BUT I HAVE SO MANY FANTASTIC MEMORIES GROWING UP ON THE STREET OF THE BRONX IN MY 'YOOT'.

Sounds wonderful. Unfortunately for me, I was born in 1943 and missed out on a lot of stuff. My mom LOVED Sinatra and always talked about the live shows. When I was little, she took me to the Arthur Godfrey radio show. What a great memory. Going to the City on the subway and having lunch at the automat. Good old days, by golly, yes they were!
