True. He was born in Britain to a wealthy family. At age 16, he was captured by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped back to Britain about 6 yrs later. He entered the priesthood and about 17 years later, he was sent back to Ireland to convert the Irish, who basically worshiped nature (i.e. polytheistic pagans). The rest is History.
