Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who
died while serving in the U.S. military. Wishing you all a great weekend, while we remember those who died in service.
I think this is the largest flag in my photo collection. This was taken in the Airship Hangar at
Moffett NAS in Sunnyvale CA, I think in 1983.
The next photos were taken at the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. This is the
resting place for 1,102 sailors and Marines on the USS Arizona, lost on Dec 7, 1941.
A total of 2,403 US military and civilians were killed in Pearl Harbor that day.
That is the rear turret #3 mount for the main Arizona cannons.
There is still oil seeping up from the wreck.
